My first day here. Sandstorm increased in the morning and continued all day, making work impossible. Officers of Seventh Battalion, A.I.F shown over the works.

Friday, January 8, 1915

Removing dirt from street between mastabas G.5010 and G.5110. Cleaning gravelly debris from Offering Chamber of Mastaba G4940B. South storm continues. Showers of rain from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Archaeological Committee have decided to reserve[?] the German and Austrian concessions until the end of the war.
