In the afternoon there came a swarm of visitors, Mrs. Poynter and Mrs. Pontefidin (wife of the Russian Consul General in Constantinople; she has lived long in Persia and offered us letters to the Russian officers and others in Persia) and others, Mr. Trelawny and party, Daninos Pasha, Professor and Mrs. Griffith, Miss Hall and Miss Roland (who are going out to join Seager in Crete) and Sir Rider Haggard and family.

G 2190 pit B is clear and resembles pit A in form but is cut in better rock and more regularly.

Having built a footbridge from G 2200 [= G 5080] to G 2190, we trenched southwards along the top of G 2200 [= G 5080] and soon came to a pit (A) filled with sand.

Lepsius 23 [= G 2000]. Have reached the chamber only to find it open and plundered. In the chamber are some pieces of wood, a skeleton
