is Ahmed Ismain's trench.
At northeast corner of IV 3 [= G 4340] there is appearing a chapel built against face of mastaba. Above its roof the strata in debris are thus:
a = grayish layer, consisting of a mixture of sand, washings from crude brick and contains chips and potsherds.
b = mostly chips of white limestone with a few fragments of pottery with black core and red surfaces.
c = yellow drift sand, the original drift. It contains loose stones.
This is Ta1 Mohammed's trench.
Hassan Abul Aser is working between IV 2 [= G 4240] and IV 3 [= G 4340] following the chapel and fine east face of IV 2 [= G 4240].
Mubarek Meawed is at the southeast corner of III 1. Here the rough masonry goes very deep and there is no sign yet of any finished facing or any chapel.
