are let down to the floor, the space is filled in level with the railroad tracks and the tracks laid over the filled excavation to the area beyond. The blocks are mostly in the sand. They can only have been cast down by man with some later (as if men had quarried the wall for stone) (cf. causeway?), after the construction of G 4611.

Said left in the evening for Quft, to meet Dunham Saturday morning and go on to Gamai.

Dunham left in the evening for Gamai. Gave him five pages of instructions.
Mr. Kemp called. Made provisional arrangement for him to assist the expedition.

Finished pit G 4712 A. Had been completely plundered. In debris, flint flake, few fragments copper model, few cylinder beads, fragments of gold leaf and end of the top of the head rest found in G 4812 B (see pageS 55 and 56, December 5, fits on left side of drawing).

Finished pit G 4611 A. Completely plundered.

(3) West of G 4611
Continued excavation of upper sand west of G 4611, working road in between great blocks of stone. Uncovered the south ends of two mastabas.
