(2) G 2353
G 2353 Y: Photographed the stone in the roof of the shaft. We found tomb card for that shaft. Removed the building which was above the stone, and we found that the stone is an inscribed stele in sunk relief with traces of paint. On the crossbar is a figure seated at table of bread (in relief), above the bread is six different heads of animals (beautifully done). After cleaning the stele with the brush we found that it is broken in three fragments or four. We photographed it again. Stele not yet removed.

Work on:
(1) East of G 2180

(1) East of G 2180
East of that mastaba, in removing the debris fallen in the street east of it, in exposing the lining of G 2181 for drawing. Sand, limestone debris and rubble. Not yet exposed.

At twelve o'clock Hakim Effendi Abu Saif the chief inspector of the Service came to the camp with Habib Effendi (from Pyramids Police Station) and met the Dr. in the office telling him that they are going to prevent the Fayoum way from beside the pyramids, and asking the Dr. to search for another new road for his cars. Hakin Eff. said that our cars can go up to M. Boraize [Baraize] house and then we have to clear another way from Borazie's house to the Camp. That means the way should go through the excavations in the Western Field. But we thought of another easy way. I (Mahmoud Said) said what about going to the king's palace and then east of the great pyramid and them south of the great pyramid and then taking our usual way north of the second Pyramid they all agree with that and we start to clean the way and we are going to use it.
