(2) North of G 2466

Saturday, March 16, 1940

work on
(1) G 2401
(2) South of G 2440

(1) G 2401
In the mastaba, in exposing the lining on east, west and north and also in exposing the shafts, sand, limestone debris, rubble and red debris. That mastaba is continued in G 2400, only the lining on south was cleared. We exposed the foundation of a room and a street north of it. The remains of the foundation not yet exactly exposed. Before was exposed one shaft and today we exposed another one, but the lining on north not yet exposed.

(2) South of G 2440
South of that mastaba. In the street between it and G 2401. In exposing the lining of the mastaba on the south, sand, limestone debris, rubble and stones fallen from the mastaba. Remains of the lining not yet exposed.

Sammam Ali left to Quft.

Sunday, March 17, 1940

work on
(1) G 2401
(2) North of G 2467

(1) G 2401
In the mastaba, in exposing the lining on north, and in exposing the remains of the lining on east and west, limestone debris, rubble, sand, and big stones. Exposed the lining on all sides and also the foundation of the room. Also exposed another shaft, that make the total of the exposed shafts three A, B, C. Not yet started in shafts.

G 2401 room: that room is on the south of the mastaba. It was exposed before. Door opened to the north, on a street running to the north with a stone jam, the same level with the lining of the foundation. the foundation is only one stone above the floor of the room. The door of that street opened into another room, perhaps was a hall in front of the street. The room is built of stones, but only one course remains, because we found the doorjambs of that door in place but fallen on each other on north. Also the drum found but uninscribed. We said before that the lining of G 2401 is continuing the lining of G 2400 in every side, because the lining of G 2400 is south of the lining of G 2440. Only a street between them running east-west, so I think that the mastaba G 2400 and G 2401 are only one mastaba. Also the lining of the hall on west running to the north above the lining of G 2400 and continued with G 2440, with a stone perhaps was going to be as a stela but unfinished. The lining on north destroyed. Drawing of G 2400 and G 2401 on page 921.

(2) North of G 2467
North of that mastaba in removing the old dump. Searching for new mastabas and shafts, sand, limestone debris and rubble. Nothing exposed in that place.
