…Marshall at Mena House. He said that the soldiers would pay more attention to official notices.
Umberto Vitale di Pontagio, Capitaine d’Etat Major, Attaché à l’Agence Diplomatique de La Majesté Roi d’Italie, called at 3 o’clock with a friend. I showed them part of the works and then went with them to the Sphinx. They left at 5.
At the Sphinx I met a Mr. Cree of Bagdad and another gentleman, friends of Mr. Fisher.
Very hot.
Letter from Mr. Fisher.
Letter from Estelle.
Mr. Cree (with other men) was forced to leave Bagdad leaving their wives and children behind.
