…In the passage between 2081 [= G 3081] and 2082 [= G 3082] the debris was wholly sand. Over the latter mastaba and 2087 [= G 3087], which adjoins it on the north, is a stratum of sand; over the latter we killed a large snake. Fisher and I continued mapping and recording as yesterday. A Mrs. Clogstown came to look over the works today. It is just two months tonight since I arrived here.

Sunday, March 7, 1915

The shafts and chambers of mastabas 3036 and 3037 are now finished, and the offering rooms, shafts and chambers of 2081 [= G 3081], 2082 [= G 3082] and 2087 [= G 3087] are being cleaned of sand and dark debris. The object register of things found to date has been started.
Mr. W. Y. Evans-Wentz, of Jesus College, Oxford and Leland Stanford University, California, arrived shortly after lunch. He has made a special study of Celtic Archaeology and is here to collect data for a comparison of Celtic archaeology with Egyptian. Fisher and I went down to the Australian Camp behind Mena House this afternoon and were shown over it. We brought back with us for dinner Mr. Williams, Mr. Ewart and another.
