(3) [Mastaba] 7102 [Chapel] (continued)

The rock-cut statues are in good condition. They are painted. As for the chamber, it is decorated as well. The inscriptions are executed in very delicate relief. The exterior room of the chapel is built with mud brick. We have not yet uncovered this chapel entirely. They found in the debris of the chapel:
2 fragments of alabaster … [unintelligible]

(4) [Shaft] 7102 C

Hashim and a crew of workmen were working on this shaft and in its burial chamber. They were removing debris of sand, limestone chips and rubble. They were also clearing the debris around the sarcophagus. The sarcophagus is inscribed with one line of hieroglyphs on the interior. Mr. Rowe read the hieroglyphs and told us that this shaft belonged to the owner of the chapel of Mastaba 7102. We found in the debris:
… fragments of pottery plates
1 pottery plate, complete
1 flint tool

(5) [Shaft] 7111 D

Abd Al-Salam was working on this shaft. He cleared this shaft to a depth of 5.5 m.
He found in the debris:
2 limestone [libation] basins

(6) [Shaft] 7130 B

Darwish and a crew of workmen were working on this shaft. They were removing debris of sand and dark soil. This layer of debris is probably from the Roman [Period]. They cleared this shaft to a depth of 7.6 m.

(7) [Shaft] 7420 B

Abd Al-Karim was clearing the recess that is in the north wall of the shaft. He cleared it and then started clearing the burial chamber. The debris in the burial chamber is sand and dark soil. We think that this debris is not original. This shaft is 15.55 m deep.

(8) [Mastaba] 7510

A crew of workmen was working on shaft 7510 B. They were removing debris of wind-blown sand. The walls of this shaft are built with stone blocks. The walls were quarried out by the locals. They workmen cleared this shaft to a depth of 55 cm. We were dumping the debris on railway V.
They found in the shaft:
1 foot fragment of an alabaster statuette
1 Roman pottery bowl, incomplete
1 head fragment of a shawabti
1 fragment of a faience bowl
1 discoid faience bead

Here is the amount of debris moved on the railways; given in carloads:
