(1) Mastaba 2185 and its Shafts B and C (continued)

Shaft [2185] B

Barbary [Ahmed] and 7 workmen were in the burial chamber of this shaft. The shaft is cut into the Gebel. They dug down a total of 385 cm. The debris is limestone chips, dark soil, rubble, and potsherds. The burial chamber is to the east. It is cut into the Gebel and sealed with stones and rubble, plastered with mud [i.e., bound with mud mortar]. They found potsherds in the fill of the shaft. They reached the rock bottom of the shaft. We left the blocking stones for drawing and photography.

Shaft [2185] C

The abovementioned workmen were the burial chambers of this shaft. The shaft is rubble on top and cut into the Gebel on [the] bottom. It is north of shaft [2185] B and south of shaft [2185] D. It was previously dug to a depth of 250 cm. They dug down a total of 360 cm. The debris is limestone chips, dark soil, rubble, and potsherds. They found burial chambers I and II.

Burial chamber I is to the west. The walls are lined with mud-brick and rubble. The ceiling is lined with stone slabs. There are no blocking stones. They found in the debris of the burial chamber the bones and skull of a human skeleton.

Burial chamber II is to the east. It is cut into the Gebel. There are no blocking stones. They found in the debris the bones and skull of a skeleton; the bones are disjointed. They cleared the burial chamber. Here is its drawing:
