Friday, June 21, 1935, the Pyramids

The workforce was 7 people. Excavation was progressing (1) south of Mastaba 1152; (2) shafts 1152a B, C, and X; [and] (3) Mastaba 1156a.

(1) South of Mastaba 1152

Barbary [Ahmed] and 7 workmen were south of this mastaba. The debris is wind-blown sand, stone blocks, rubble, and potsherds. They found a pottery jar in the fill south of the mastaba. They are clearing the mud floor. They cleared this area and there were no inscriptions.

(2) Shafts 1152a B, C, and X

Shaft [1152a] B

We removed the blocking stones of the burial chamber. Its walls are lined with rubble and the ceiling was lined with stone slabs. The debris is rubble and mud plaster. In the burial chamber, there is a skeleton covered with sand. There is a rock-cut sarcophagus. There is a skeleton covered with sand in the sarcophagus. We have not yet cleared the skeleton, waiting for Mr. [Alexander] Floroff to draw [it]. After drawing we will clear [the] fallen rubble and stone and the sand on top of the skeleton in order to draw and photograph it.

Shaft [1152a] C

We removed the blocking stones of the burial chamber. The debris is three stone blocks. We broke them. There is a skeleton in the burial chamber; the head is to the north. The skeleton is not in situ. We left it for drawing and photography.

Shaft [1152a] X

We removed the blocking stones of the burial chamber. The debris is stone blocks and mud plaster. There is a skeleton in the burial chamber; the head is to the north. We left the skeleton for photography and drawing.

(3) [Mastaba] 1156a

A crew of workmen was clearing the northwestern and southwestern corners of this mastaba for mapping. The debris is limestone chips and stones. They found two pottery jars–one is missing some parts of the rim--in the fill. Saturday, June 22, 1935, the Pyramids
