Monday, March 4, 1935, the Pyramids

The workforce was 7 people. We paid them their wages: a total of 210 piasters.

Excavation was progressing on (1) shaft 1408+1409 A.

(1) Shaft 1408+1409 A

Darwiesh Ahmed, Said Hasan, and a crew of 7 workmen were in the shaft and its burial chamber. They dug down a total of 725 cm. The debris is sand, rubble, stones, and paper. The burial chamber is to the south. It is cut into the Gebel. It is sealed with stone blocks. Only the blocking stones on the west end remain. In the burial chamber, there are remains of human bones, sand, and paper. They reached the rock bottom; they have not yet cleared the burial chamber.

The workforce was 7 people. Excavation was progressing on (1) shafts 1408+1409 A, B, C, and D.

Darwiesh Ahmed, Said Hasan, and a crew of 7 workmen were in the burial chamber of this shaft. The debris is sand and paper. They found [in] the fill remains of human bones. They cleared it. Here is its drawing:

The abovementioned workmen were in this shaft. It is mudbrick on top and cut into the Gebel on [the] bottom. They dug down 480 cm. The debris is sand on top of limestone chips and potsherds. Its burial chamber is to the west. It is cut into the Gebel and sealed with three stone blocks and rubble. Traces of mud plaster remain on the southern end of the blockage. They reached the rock bottom of the shaft. We left the blocking stones for photography and drawing.
