Diary Translation: begin page 1884

Thursday, February 7, 1935, the Pyramids

Excavation was progressing in (1) shaft 1202 E; and (2) shaft 1206 B.

(1) Shaft 1202 E

Dawi and one workman brought up the bones of the deceased that was in the burial chamber. They cleared it; nothing was found.

(2) Shaft 1206 B

Said Hasan and a crew of 6 workmen were in this shaft. They dug down 670 cm. The debris is sand, limestone chips, and rubble. The burial chamber is to the west. It is cut into the Gebel. There were no blocking stones. They reached the rock bottom of the shaft but have not yet started clearing the burial chamber.

Friday, February 8, 1935, the Pyramids

The workforce was 7 people. Excavation was progressing in (1) shafts 1202 Y and Z; and (2) shaft 1206 B.

(1) Shafts 1202 Y and Z

Shaft 1202 Y

Said Hasan and a crew of 7 workmen were in this shaft. Its walls are stones on top and cut into the Gebel on [the] bottom. The shaft was dug before to a depth of 230 cm. They dug down a total of 320 cm. The debris is sand, limestone chips, paper, and dark soil. The burial chamber is to the west. It is cut into the Gebel. There were no blocking stones at the entrance. They reached the rock bottom of the shaft but have not yet started clearing the burial chamber.

Shaft 1202 Z

The abovementioned workmen were in this shaft. It is stone on top and cut into the Gebel on [the] bottom. They dug down 125 cm. The debris is loose sand. It turned out to be unfinished; there was no burial chamber.

(2) Shaft 1206 B

The abovementioned workmen were in the burial chamber of this shaft. The debris is limestone chips, sand, and rubble. They found in the debris of the burial chamber:

1 whetstone, with traces of copper oxide

pieces of fragile wood

They cleared it. Its drawing is on the next page (1885).
