Monday, February 4, 1935, the Pyramids (continued)

(2) Shaft 1206 A

Said Hasan and a crew of 7 workmen were in this shaft. They dug down 716 cm. The debris is limestone chips, rubble, and dark soil. The burial chamber is to the south. It is cut into the Gebel. There were no blocking stones at the entrance. There is a rock-cut sarcophagus in the burial chamber to the west. The sarcophagus is on a north-south axis. Only one stone remains from the lid. They reached the rock bottom of the shaft and there is a large stone in the bottom of the shaft. It probably was part of the blockage. They have not yet started clearing the burial chamber.
