Saturday, November 17, 1934, the Pyramids

The workforce was 7 people. Excavation was progressing on (1) shafts 1457 A and B.

Shaft 1457 A

Hamid Qenawi and workmen were working in this shaft. They dug down 11.90 m. The debris is limestone chips, rubble, and sand. Its burial chamber is to the south. It is cut into the Gebel. There are blocking stones on the west side of the entrance; the blockage is rubble and stone blocks, coated with plaster. Also in the shaft, there is a mastaba-like structure built with rubble and stone blocks on the western and northern sides [i.e., the west and south walls of the shafts constitute the western and northern walls of the mastaba-like structure]. The height of the mastaba-like structure is from 70-80 cm.

In the western side of the burial chamber, there is a rock-cut sarcophagus on a north-south axis. The debris in the burial chamber is stone blocks and rubble.

They found in the fill of the shaft fragments of pottery bowls. They reached the rock bottom of the shaft but did not start clearing the burial chamber, waiting for photography.

The abovementioned workmen were working in this shaft. It is mudbrick on top. They dug down 80 cm. The debris is wind-blown sand and potsherds. They have not yet reached the rock bottom of the shaft.

The workforce was 6 people. Excavation was progressing on (1) shaft 1457 B.

(1) Shaft 1457 B

Hajj Said and workmen were in this shaft. They dug down 320 cm. The debris is wind- blown sand and potsherds. They have not yet reached the rock bottom of the shaft, nor have they found the burial chamber.
