Sunday, October 21, 1934, the Pyramids

The workforce was 7 people from Nazlet Es-Samman. Excavation was progressing on (1) shafts 1226 A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I [later renamed G 1226 J]

Shaft [1226] A

Hamed Qenawi and a crew of 7 men from Nazlet Es-Samman are in this shaft. It is built with rubble on top. Its western wall is the [east] wall of Mastaba 1227. They dug down 50 cm. The debris is sand and soil. It turned out to be unfinished and there is no burial chamber.

Shaft [1226] B

The same as in shaft [1226] A. It is north of shaft [1226] A.

Shaft [1226] C

The abovementioned workmen were in this shaft. Its walls are rubble on top, missing some of its courses. On [the] bottom, it is cut into the Gebel. They dug down 170 cm. The debris is limestone chips and dark soil. The burial chamber is to the south and sealed with stones and rubble. They reached the rock bottom of the shaft. We left the blockage for photography.

Shaft [1226] D

The abovementioned workmen were working in this shaft. Its walls are lined with small stones. The western wall is the stone core of Mastaba 1227. This shaft is 40 cm. deep. The fill is limestone chips and dark soil. There is no burial chamber.

Shaft [1226] E

The abovementioned workmen were in this shaft. Its walls are rubble on top and cut into the Gebel on [the] bottom. They dug down 385 cm. deep. The debris is limestone chips, rubble, and dark soil. Its burial chamber is to the east. It is on a south-north axis. There was no blockage. (They cleared it and here is its drawing):

Shaft [1226] F

The abovementioned workmen were in this shaft. Its walls are rubble and stones on top and cut into the Gebel on [the] bottom. They dug down 125 cm. The debris is sand and dark soil. It turned to out to be unfinished and there is no burial chamber.
