Friday, October 5, 1934, the Pyramids

The workforce is 6 people from the town [i.e., Qeft]. Excavation is progressing [in] (1) shafts 1413 B and C.

Shaft [1413] B

Some of the guards and workmen were working in the burial chamber of this shaft. The debris is wind-blown sand and rubble. Human bones were found disturbed [?] on the west side of the burial chamber, resting on [a layer] of limestone chips. They cleared it; nothing was found.

Shaft [1413] C

The abovementioned workmen were in this shaft. Its walls are mudbricks above rubble on top and cut into the Gebel on [the] bottom. It was dug before to 9 m. They dug it to a depth of 10 m. The debris is wind-blown sand and soil. They have not yet reached the rock bottom of the shaft, nor have they started clearing the burial chamber.

Saturday, October 6, 1934, the Pyramids

The workforce is 6 people from the town [i.e., Qeft]. Excavation is progressing (1) west of Mastaba 1223 and between Mastabas 1223 and 1225; and (2) shaft 1413 C.

(1) West of Mastaba 1223

Some of the guards and workmen were working west of this mastaba and in the area between Mastabas 1223 and 1225. The debris is sand, limestone chips, and rubble. Clearance is conducted in order to draw and map the two mastabas.

(2) Shaft 1413 C

The abovementioned workmen were in the burial chamber of this shaft. The debris is wind-blown sand and dark soil. We found in the burial chamber of this shaft a card [on which was] written “G 3030 C”. This card is from the time of Mr. [Clarence] Fisher. We cleared the burial chamber and did not find anything.

Sunday, October 7, 1934, the Pyramids

The workforce is 6 people from the town [i.e., Qeft]. Excavation is progressing [in] (1) Mastaba 1452 [actually G 1451].

(1) Mastaba 1451

A crew of guards and workmen was working on top of this mastaba. The debris is wind-blown sand and rubble. Excavation is conducted in order to locate the shafts of this mastaba. No shafts have been found yet.

Monday, October 8, 1934, the Pyramids

The same as yesterday. We paid the town [i.e., Qeft] workmen their wages. Total amount paid as wages is 180 piasters.

Tuesday, October 9, 1934, the Pyramids

There was no work; it was a day off.
