Excavation was progressing [in] (1) shaft 1234 B and (2) [left blank]

A crew of guards was working on this shaft. The debris is sand and dark soil. The burial chamber was uncovered to the west. A skeleton was found in the burial chamber. They cleared it, and [it] was left for photography. Here is its drawing:

Saturday, September 1, 1934, the Pyramids

Excavation was progressing [in] (1) shaft 1235 A.

Shaft 1235 A

A crew of guards and six workmen from the town [i.e., Qeft] was working on this shaft, [clearing] it for photography. The debris is wind-blown sand. They cleared it.

Sunday, September 2, 1934, the Pyramids

Excavation was progressing [in] (1) Mastaba 1228 shafts A and B (= G 1227 Annex A and B).

Shaft 1228 A

A crew of guards and six workmen from the town [i.e., Qeft] was working on this shaft. They dug down 6 m. Its walls are stone built on top and cut into the Gebel on [the] bottom. The debris is sand and limestone chips. They have not yet reached the rock bottom of the shaft, nor have they found the burial chamber.

Shaft 1228 B

A crew of guards and six workmen from the town [i.e., Qeft] was working on this shaft. They dug down 4 m. Its walls are stone built on top and cut into the Gebel on [the] bottom. The debris is sand and limestone chips. It turned out to be an unfinished shaft and no burial chamber was found.

Monday, September 3, 1934, the Pyramids

Excavation was progressing (1) clearing the shafts of Mastaba 1225 for drawing and (2) in shaft 1228 A.

Ali Mahmud and six workmen from the town [i.e., Qeft] were clearing the shafts to the east for drawing. The debris is sand, limestone chips, and rubble. They have not yet cleared them.

(2) Shaft 1228 A

A crew of guards and six workmen from the town [i.e., Qeft] was working on this shaft. They dug down 830 cm. The debris is sand and limestone chips. The burial chamber was uncovered on the west; there is no blockage. They have not yet reached the rock bottom of the shaft, nor have they started clearing the burial chamber.

Tuesday, September 4, 1934, the Pyramids

There was no work because of the market.
