Saturday, August 11, 1934, the Pyramids

North of Mastaba 4240 [in Mastaba 4241]

A number of guards and five workmen from the town [i.e., Qeft] were working on the shaft next to Mastaba 4240. They dug down 6.50 m. The debris is wind-blown sand. They have not yet reached the bottom of the shaft, nor have they found a burial chamber.

Shaft east of [Mastaba 4340 in] Mastaba 4341

They were also working on the shaft east of Mastaba 4340. They dug down 2 m. The debris is wind-blown sand. They have not yet reached the bottom of the shaft, nor have they found a burial chamber.

North of Mastaba [4240] in [Mastaba] 4241

A number of guards and five workmen from the town [i.e., Qeft] were working on this shaft. The debris is loose sand. They dug down 7.60 m. The burial chamber is to the west; there are no blocking stones. Here is its drawing:

The Shafts of Mastaba 4341

They started clearing the northern shaft [G 4341 C]. They dug down 230 cm. The debris is loose sand. It turned out to be an unfinished shaft and there is no burial chamber.

Also they worked on the southern shaft of this mastaba [G 4341 B]. They dug down 150 cm. The debris is sand, limestone chips, and potsherds. They have not reached the bottom yet, nor have they found a burial chamber.

Monday, August 13, 1934, the Pyramids

Shaft 4341 [B]

A number of guards and five workmen from the town [i.e., Qeft] were working on this southern shaft. They dug down 5.6 m. The debris is limestone chips, sand, and potsherds. They found loose in the fill:

1 pottery bowl, complete

fragments of pottery bowls

1 flint letter [he possibly means a flint tool]

The burial chamber is to the west and some of the blocking stones are missing. They have not yet cleared the burial chamber.
