Sunday, January 22, 1933, the Pyramids (continued)

(3) Shaft 2220 B

The Deputy Director and a group of men moved the wooden box [i.e., coffin] to the entrance of the burial chamber. He also had a winch set up on top of the shaft in order to lift up the wooden box [i.e., coffin]. They have not yet brought it up.

(4) East of Mastaba 2370

Men are looking for shafts or rock-cut tombs east of this mastaba. The debris is rubble, limestone chips, flint, sand, and black dust. They have not yet found shafts. Excavation is proceeding northward towards the Gebel.

(5) Shaft 5230 A

Othman Youness and some of the men were in the burial chamber. The debris is rubble, limestone chips, flint, potsherds, and stone blocks. They found loose in the debris a small alabaster jar, 4 potsherds and limestone fragments, [and] 3 fragments of pottery plates. They have not yet cleared it.
Also, some of the workmen were installed railway track number XXIV. It is on a north-south axis. The guards did not have work to do today.

Monday, [January], 23, [1933, the Pyramids]

Excavation started at 6:30 am and ended at 4:15 pm. Excavation is progressing in (1) shaft 2100 C; (2) shaft 2220 B; (3) south of mastaba 2370; and (4) shaft 5230 A.
