Saturday, April 30, 1932, the Pyramids (continued)

(4) Mastaba 1696

Ahmed Mas’oud and Ali Mahmoud are excavating [?] the mastaba. The debris consists of rubble on top of a layer of limestone chips and sand. Shaft A was located.

The abovementioned workmen are in this shaft. It is cut into soft rocks. They went down to a total of 80 cm deep. The fill is rubble, limestone chips, and sand. We found a deceased child in contracted position; his head is toward the north. We left it for photography. Here is its drawing:

(5) Shafts 2100 B and C

Shaft 2100 B

Sayed Bedair and a crew of workmen are in the burial chamber of this shaft. The fill is rubble, limestone chips, stone blocks, and sand. They cleared it. Here are its drawings:

Ahmed El-Mizlef and a crew of workmen are clearing around the mouth of the shaft, and lifting up the large fallen boulders in the shaft. The fill is rubble, limestone chips, fallen blocks, and sand. They have not yet excavated the shaft.

(6) Mastaba 2210

Clearing the northern wall of the mastaba. The debris is rubble, limestone chips, fallen blocks, and sand. Excavation is proceeding toward the eastern façade.

A crew of workmen is involved in building a shack for the guards. They finished it except for the roof.
