Monday, March 14, 1932, the Pyramids (continued)

(9) Mastaba 1616

Some of the workmen are in this mastaba. It is a stone built structure faced with mud plaster. The debris is sand, rubble and limestone chips. Two niches were found in its eastern wall. So far no shafts were found.

(10) Shaft 1617 A

Ahmed el-Mizlef and Hashim Mohamed are in this shaft. Its lower part is cut into the rock, while the upper part is built with stone. They went down 315 cm. deep. The debris consists of sand, rubble and the Gebel dust. Its burial chamber is located in the northern wall. There is no blockage. They cleaned it and here is its drawing:

(11) Rock-cut tomb 1618

Moussa Khalil and Khafary Mohamed are in this rock-cut tomb. Its entrance opens to the north. The fill is sand. They have not cleaned it yet.

It was a day off because of the market.

Wednesday, March 16, 1932

Work started at 6:30 am and ended at 3:50 pm because this was a payment day. Excavation was progressing in (1) Mastaba 1225; (2) shafts 1611 B, C and D; (3) shaft 1612 A; (4) Mastaba 1614; (5) Mastaba 1615; (6) Mastaba 1616; (7) rock-cut tomb 1618 and its shafts; (8) Mastaba 1619; (9) Mastaba 1621; (10) Mastaba 1622; and (11) Mastaba 1623.

(1) Mastaba 1225

Some of the workmen are above this mastaba searching for shaft B [actually A]. The debris consists of sand, rubble and limestone chips. They have not found shaft B [actually A] yet.
