Shaft 1607 C

Ahmed Mas’oud and Attytou Mourad are working in this shaft. It is cut in the bedrock. It is 1.27 m. deep. The debris is rubble and sand. It has been cleaned and there is no burial chamber. Here is its plan:

We moved the statue from chamber a.

(6) Rock-cut Tomb 1609 and its chambers and shafts

Ahmed el-Mizlef and Barbary Ahmed along with a crew of men are working in this rock-cut tomb. The entrance is toward the north. The lintel in the entrance of room a is inscribed. The debris consists of rubble and sand. They uncovered shafts A and B.

Shaft 1609 A

Ahmed el-Mizlef and Barbary Ahmed are in the shaft. It is 1.90 m. deep. Its debris consists of rubble and sand. The burial chamber is on the western side. It is blocked with stones coated with cement. We left it for photographing.

Shaft 1609 B

Ahmed el-Mizlef and Barbary Ahmed are working in this shaft. It is 2.10 m. deep. Its debris is rubble and sand. The burial chamber is on the western side. Only one brick of its blockage remained. We found a pottery jar in the burial chamber. We left it for photographing. Here is the plan of the rock-cut tomb and its shafts:
