Monday, December 1, 1924 (continued)

The total number of cars, which we loaded today, was 654 cars: 116 carloads from 8:00 am; 282 carloads from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm; and 256 carloads from 1:00 pm to 4:20 pm.
Work was progressing smoothly, and the railway tracks were close to the mastaba.

Then today, we packed the Saqqara stone blocks.

Tuesday, December 2, 1924

There was no work, because of the market. Then today Reis Mahmud traveled to Girga. We paid the workmen their wages. And also today Tawfik traveled to Misr [i.e. Cairo].

Wednesday, December 3, 1924

The workforce was 119 workmen. Excavation was progressing on (1) Pyramid [G] I-a; (2) chapel of 7101; (3) shaft 7101 A; (4) shaft 7101 B; (5) shaft 7101 C; (6) Mastaba 7110.

(1) [Pyramid G] I-a

Excavation was progressing on Pyramid [G] I-a. They were removing debris of dark soil, limestone chips and rubble. The debris seems to be layered and mixed (?) up against the north face of the pyramid. They found in the debris remains of human bones. The human remains were found in the dark soil near the bottom. Here is a sketch of the debris.
