We went down to talk to the police.

Mahmud Ahmed Al-Mizlef said, “The deceased was working with me on the car. The deceased pushed it very hard. I tried to stop it by pulling the brake, but the handbrake broke off. I then left the car, and yelled for the deceased to leave it too. But he refused to leave it and fell off the tracks with the car.”

Mohamed Tammam and Hussein Elawi said, “We were working at the end of the tracks and the beginning of the dump. When we realized that the car was coming toward us very fast, we yelled for them to leave the car. Mahmud al-Mizlef left the car, but the deceased did not leave it and fell off the tracks with the car. His forehead hit the wooden stairs.”
The Director [George Andrew Reisner] said, “When the incident occurred, I went immediately to see the deceased. I talked to him, and then sent him to the hospital in my car.”

Then today, we were roofing the magazine.

The workforce was 90 workmen from the village. Excavation was progressing on (1) the area between Pyramid [G] I-b and Pyramid [G] I-a; (2) in the Grave 1 in Kafr Ghattati; (3) in Grave 2 in Kafr Ghattati.

(1) [Area Between Pyramid [G] I-b and Pyramid [G] I-a]

Excavation was progressing on the area between Pyramid [G] I-b and Pyramid [G] I-a. The workmen were removing debris of limestone chips, rubble and stone blocks. The debris is from the core of Pyramid [G] I-a. They found remains of human bones under this debris. They also uncovered a cutting into the bedrock between the two pyramids. This cutting goes down for 1 m, and then straightens toward the south, and goes deep again as in the drawing.
