Then they found to the north of Pyramid [G] I-b under the limestone chips several mud brick gaming pieces.

Then today at 6:00 pm, I took the car to the hospital in order to meet with Reis Mahmud [at the Train Station] and to visit Ali Mahmud Khayer Allah. I said to Ali: “How are you?” He responded: “Good.” Edris also asked him: “How are you?” He answered: “Good”. Then Edris followed up: “Who am I?” He answered: “You are Edris.” I then left them and went to the Train Station to wait for the 8:00 pm train.

Saturday, November 15, 1924

The workforce was 83 workmen.

[Pyramid G] I-b

Excavation was progressing on the area to the north of [Pyramid G] I-b. The workmen were removing debris of stone blocks, rubble and limestone chips. The debris is from the core of Pyramid [G] I-a. They were also clearing the Roman [Late Period] pavement. They found in the dark soil:
1 lower portion of a statuette, inscribed
2 head fragments of faience shawabtis
1 lower portion of a faience shawabti
1 fragment of a faience shawabti
1 copper arrowhead
1 copper ring
1 faience object
1 Roman pottery jar with two handles
And also we also found a similar jar in situ.

We then exposed the core of Pyramid [G] I-b through the door (?).

At 9:00 am, Reis Mahmud returned. He informed us that Ali Mahmud Khayer Allah has died in the hospital at 1:00 am. Mahmud met with the Director [George Andrew Reisner]. After this meeting, the Director, Mahmud, Mohamed Tammam, Hussein Elawi, Mahmud Ahmed Al-Mizlef and I went down to the Police Station in order to give our statements.
