Sunday, November 9, 1924

The workforce was 55 workmen from the village. Excavation was progressing on (1) Pyramid [G] I-b; (2) Mastaba 7130; (3) shaft 7131 [A].

(1) [Pyramid G] I-b

Excavation was progressing on the area to the north of Pyramid [G] I-b. They were removing debris of limestone chips and rubble. They were also removing the debris in the silos. The western walls of some silos are collapsed, because the silos are built against the wall of the Pyramid. So, the west walls of the silos were destroyed, during the quarrying period of the pyramid’s core.
Then we found in the debris of the silos:
1 limestone chisel [?]
1 inscribed limestone fragment
1 copper arrowhead
2 fragments of faience bowl, inscribed
1 lower portion of a faience figurine
1 lower portion of a faience shawabti, inscribed
2 bases of faience figurine
1 faience figurine of a ram-headed man
1 fragment of a faience ram figure
1 fragment of an alabaster sphinx
1 pottery bowl with a scene of human feet
1 small pottery cup

Then we moved the crew of workmen to a new area.

(2) Mastaba 7130

The crew of workmen was excavating the area to the north of Mastaba 7130 and on the area between this mastaba and Mastaba 7120. They were removing debris of sand and rubble from around Mastaba 7120. They cleared this area of the Roman [Late Period] pavement. Under the Roman pavement, there are potsherds dating to earlier periods. They also uncovered a circular silo on the Roman pavement. This silo is built with stone blocks.

(3) Shaft 7131 [A]

And also a crew of workmen was excavating shaft 7131 A. The fill in the shaft is sand, dark soil and stone blocks. They cleared it to a depth of ca. 7 m. They found the burial chamber. It is on the south. There were no blocking stones at the entrance. The burial chamber is filled with sand and dark soil. We have not yet entered the burial chamber until we photograph it. They found in the fill of the shaft:
1 torso of a faience figurine
1 small copper arrowhead
1 glint tool
1 seashell
1 fragment of a faience rosette
1 piece of a copper needle
1 pottery bead
