Exposing the east wall. Sand, ruksh and big stones.

Photographed lintel of [TRANSLITERATION], lying against east wall of mastaba at south end. 39-9-3.

Photographed the stele here, found by Mohammedani, 39-9-4. Work stopped at noon because of high wind and sand storm.

Removing the old dump, and clearing the rest of the east wall of G 2438. Debris. sand, ruksh, rubble, large stones and dirt. East of G 2438, a shaft was revealed, not yet numbered. Objects found in debris east of G 2438: one gray granite (?) hammer 40-1-22
one complete traditional offering jar 40-1-19
four white limestone inscribed and painted fragments 40-1-20
one fragment of white limestone inscribed with a single sign 40-1-21
one limestone statuette 40-1-18. This statue was against a built stone wall probably the northwest corner of another mastaba, east of G 2438.

G 2435 A: In shaft. Lined above with rubble, cut in rock below. It is south of B and north of C. Total depth 5.1 meters. Sand, ruksh, rubble big stones and fragments of granite. Chamber on south cut in rock. Blocked with one big slab and one small stone and bound with mud. Intact. Left for photo.

G 2435 B: In shaft. Lined above with rubble and cut in rock below. It is north of A. Depth 2.8 meters. Dirt, ruksh, rubble, stones. Chamber on south. Blocked with two slabs, and rubble. Traces of mud binding. Intact? Left for photo.
