G 2435 Z: In shaft and chamber. Lined with masonry and only little parts underneath on east and south. Ends in limestone filling. It is north of Y, in the street between that mastaba and G 2430. Total depth 2.5 meters. Sand, limestone debris, rubble and stones. Chamber on north. Built of crude brick only on west some masonry underneath. Roofed with slabs. No blocking. That chamber was built on the roof of another chamber. Cleared. Drawing.

East of that mastaba in removing the old dump. In exposing the remains of the lining on east to the north. Sand, limestone debris, rubble, big stones, dirty debris and granite fragments. Remains of lining on north not yet exposed.

The Mudir (Dr. Reisner), Mr. Frank, Miss Perkins, Miss Ginger and Mahmoud Said visit the excavations this afternoon at about 3:30 p.m. Everybody full of hope that that will bring great luck to the expedition, and hoping that sooner will be some statuette "Inshaallah".

The morning we start to bring water in the expedition lorry and we stopped the camels. The Mudir was so kind and he employed the son of the owner of the camels to be the water lorry.

East of that mastaba. In removing the old dump. In exposing the remains of the lining on east to the north. Sand, limestone debris, rubble, dirty debris and stones. Margin Note: G 2438 objects. Found in debris: Inscribed limestone fragment with one sign in relief, small inscribed limestone fragment with part of a sign in relief. Remains of lining in that slide not yet exposed.

G 2435 X: Removed the two inscribed stones which we discovered on February 1, in the building of the chamber on west. One of the stones showing two figures with their upper parts missing (in relief). Sketch of the stone.
