Tuesday, June 4, 1940
A new chauffeur is working because of Tewfik's illness. The name of the chauffeur is Said. Tewfik [was] sent to the C.M.C. Hospital.

Wednesday, June 5, 1940
Guards in cleaning the room a of LG 71, sand, dirty debris, limestone debris, rubble and stones. Room not yet cleaned.

Thursday, June 6, 1940
As yesterday. In the rooms we exposed a shaft and not yet started with it. Found in debris:
two complete limestone canopic jars and three complete lids.
fragment of a limestone bowl. Cleaned.

Friday, June 7, 1940
Guards in cleaning rooms a and b of G 7752. That tomb will be a magazine for Mr. Blanchard antiquities. Iron door will be on that tomb. Rooms cleaned but the iron door not yet put in place. Drawing.

Saturday, June 8, 1940
Guards in cleaning the shaft which is in room a of L.G. 71 because we might put some objects in it. It is cut in rock. Sand, dirty debris, limestone debris and rubble. Chamber on south cut in rock. Lower part of the blocking still remains, rubble and stones at bottom. In the chamber on west is a north-south cut coffin without lid. Cleared. Drawing.

I (Mohammed Said) went [to] Cairo to meet Mr. Clealand to buy some stuff for the packing of Mr. Blanchard's shop in Cairo to be removed to the camp.

Sunday, June 9, 1940
Guards in removing pottery and bones from magazine No. 6 and putting them in out new magazine "Sadik's House" which is east of Cemetery G 6000.

    • Remarks Reisner had a tomb with iron door prepared in 1940 for Mr. Blanchard's antiquities. The role of Mr. Blanchard is not mentioned, but he is perhaps the antiquities dealer of the same name who was based in Cairo. This is perhaps the same Mr. Blanchard who is mentioned in H. Lyman Story's diary, Jan.-Feb. 1915. Identity confirmed with additiona detail in 2020: Fredrik Hagen and Kim Ryholt, The Antiquities Trade in Egypt 1880–1930. The H.O.
