Finished clearing sand from passages between mastaba 3033-3036-3037. In front of a niche in 3036 a double limestone offering basin with a short inscription on one edge. The offering room of this mastaba has now been cleared of sand. The shafts A to F are filled with a mixture of sand and limestone debris. Clearing two burial pits of 3037 of sand, which also runs over the main top of the mastaba. Work was begun on an extension of the cemetery eastward, lying north of Reisner’s old IV Dynasty mastaba 1223. Here there is a deep mass of sand and limestone debris. South of mastaba 2083 [= G 3083] is a large room (Y) which is full of sand and mud debris.
Fisher and I went to Cairo on the 8:30 train, going to the Bank for money, and for £.E. 80, to be telegraphed to Dr. Reisner in the Sudan from his account. Then to the office of Mr. Xippas, the manager of the Vacuum Oil Co., for a check for $1,000., which had been sent through his office for Dr. Reisner.
