I was told last night that Zaghlul Pasha had been closeted with Lord Lloyd for two hours. The Gazette this morning confirmed this news. It has generally been reported that Adly Pasha would be prime minister, but as Zaghlul and the Wafd hold seventy-five percent of the seats in Parliament (results of elections) of May 22, it has seemed impossible for any party but the Wafd to assume government. The alternative would appear to be the cancellation of the present parliamentary constitution. Parliament should meet in the next two weeks.

Tuesday, June 1, 1926
Day of rest.
