I went in again, found M. Lacau at museum delivered diary to page 425 including [ILLUSTRATION] and informed him of progress of work. He will not return from leave until November 4 or 5.

Lifted brown east-west wood marked c and d exposing decayed cloth. Underneath c on west edge a band of brown north-south wood lying on cloth is clearly a batten of some sort. Removed fabric c, d. This lower layer was more tightly compressed than the upper and has on its under surface print of north-south wood (bottom of box). Under c, d fabric lies on layer of north-south wood, brown, resting on rock. Cleared away area b along wall, here were crumbled fragments.
Removed 737(1)-(4) potsherds.
