I telegraphed Said to send on the rest of the finds and the baggage by boat to Cairo. The first boat load left Bersheh on May 23 and arrived at Giza on May 28.
On May 24, Italy declared war on Austria and Germany on Italy.
On Wednesday May 19, Fisher and I called on Foucart about Tanis and el-Amarna.
Hot weather began May 25, increasing to maximum 40 on May 26, 42.5 on May 27 (distressing night), and 41.5 on May 28. Last night (28th), a heavy north wind came up and today, May 29, is fairly cool.
This afternoon Prof. and Mrs. Foucart came to tea. This morning Mr. and Mrs. Quibell, Miss. Quibell, Judge and Mrs. Walton, Mr. Elliot to dinner.
Tuesday, June 1, 1915
Story left by Greek boat for Athens to sail on 9th by S.S. Athenai-Piraeus to New York.
Fisher, who has just lost his mother, came before lunch to stay until tomorrow.
Said came down arriving yesterday morning, May 31. Cool weather since last Friday. Work on Kerma article and on photo lists to date.

Worked on Kerma pottery, drawing and photographing. Also began work on Sebaste proof sheets.

Photographed Greek M.S.S. at the Library of the Coptic Patriarch at Alexandria. The Library is in a room at the Greek Cathedral.
