Mr. Frank Allen left for Luxor to see the Chicago House there and to pay the men there.

Sunday, September 8, 1940
Mr. Frank arrived from Luxor.
Guards in bringing sand in the office in case of bombs.

Monday, September 9, 1940
War magazine removed to the eastern cemetery in L.G. 71 in the far western room.

Friday, September 13, 1940
Miss Ginger, Miss Perkins, Mr. Frank and Mohammed Said Ahmed left early by car to visit Beni Suef. Invited to visit Beni Suef by Ahmed Eff Moho a friend of Mohammed Said. He is an Omdah there and owner of many omnibuses running between Beni Suef and Minia, and he is a very rich man. They arrived there and visited Ihnassia and had their lunch at Ahmed Eff. house. They arrived at the camp at about 7:30 p.m.

Miss Edna Fabion came to spend some days. She is out of job now. She will join the Army.

Monday, September 23, 1940
Mr. Harrison's Birthday, and he ordered a dinner party for all the men serving the expedition, and he ordered an Arabic musician for the men during the night.

Tuesday, September 24, 1940
Mahmoud Said left for Quft, for a holiday.

Thursday, September 26, 1940
Guards closed the chamber in which we placed Schacht's Library, because of rain.

Tuesday, October 1, 1940
Guards arrive from Quft. They are fourteen.

Wednesday, October 2, 1940
Guards left the camp to Quft. They are sixteen.

Saturday, October 5, 1940
Mr. Floroff found on top of G 5460, a small red granite rounded stone.

Attito [Attito Mahmud] left for Quft.

Saturday, November 2, 1940
Yesterday was the Bairam. I went to His Majesty's King Palace Abdine. There I met many Omdahs of our province and other friends. I invited them all to come for lunch at the camp today. They all accept[ed] the invitation and they were: Ibrahim Mohammed Bey El Asheery, the Mamour of Kena before and of Benha, Abdu eff Soliman, Abd el Halim eff El Sayed the son of Benhas' Omdah, Ahmed Eff Mohou of Beni Suef, Hassan Ahmed Dongol our Omdah, Morad Bey Kassim the Omdah of Dendereh, Abu el Wafa Dongol, Mohammed Abd el Rahim Abu el Said, Mohtar Ossman and his cousin, El Hag Ged el Said, Shiek Abu el Kassim Dongol, Mohammed Hassan Braish. The lunch was very good indeed. They all met our Mudir in the presence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Perkins, Miss Perkins, Miss Ginger, Mr. Frank Allen and two guests (Hawagat). They all [had] coffee in the veranda and they all were very pleased.
